InFlow by Intake Health — Product Overview
What Is InFlow?
InFlow is a small, battery-powered hydration monitoring device that attaches to the inside of a urinal. Every time someone uses the urinal, InFlow automatically tests their hydration level and displays an instant result using a bright colored light — green, yellow, or red — so they know exactly where they stand.
No cups. No lab tests. No manual effort. InFlow turns every bathroom visit into an effortless hydration check.
How InFlow Works
InFlow uses optical sensor technology to analyze urine color and concentration in real time. When urine fills the cup and contacts the sensor pin, InFlow runs the test automatically and illuminates with a result within seconds.
The test is passive and continuous — InFlow is always ready, 24 hours a day, without any action required from the user other than using the restroom normally.
What the Lights Mean
| Light | Status | What to Do |

Key Features
Passive and effortless. InFlow runs every test automatically — no app, no user setup, no disruption to routine.
Instant visual feedback. Bright, color-coded results are easy to understand at a glance, even in dim locker room environments.
Long battery life. Each charge delivers approximately 4,000 tests — typically lasting 3 to 8 weeks between charges, depending on how many people use the restroom.
Wireless charging. When the battery runs low, remove the InFlow Cartridge, rinse it, and place it on the included wireless charger. A full charge takes about 2 hours.
No consumable parts. InFlow has no strips, reagents, or cartridges to replace. The only ongoing maintenance is periodic charging and a humidity reset every 3–6 months.
Durable, sanitary design. Built for the demanding environment of a commercial restroom. Clean weekly with water or a non-HCL-based cleaner.
Custom Actiongraphic. Each InFlow comes with an over-urinal sign (Actiongraphic) that displays your team or organization's specific hydration protocols for each result — green, yellow, and red.
Who Uses InFlow?
InFlow is trusted by elite athletic and professional organizations that take hydration seriously.
Professional Sports — InFlow is installed at 60–80% of teams across the top five U.S. professional sports leagues, including MLB, NBA, NFL, NHL, and MLS teams. Current and past customers include teams such as the San Diego Padres, Toronto Blue Jays, Phoenix Suns, and Chelsea FC.
Collegiate Athletics — Over 200 Division I university programs use InFlow, covering sports including football, basketball, wrestling, and more.
Industrial & Workplace — InFlow is deployed on oil platforms, in manufacturing facilities, and at other high-heat or high-exertion workplaces where worker dehydration is a safety concern.
Female Athletes — Athletic trainers at several universities have successfully adapted InFlow for women's teams by using it with a cup in a sink or other portable setup. A toilet-mounted version designed specifically for female athletes (InLoo) is in development.
The Science Behind InFlow
Urine color is a well-established clinical indicator of hydration status. InFlow's optical sensor measures light interaction with urine using a multi-wavelength analysis to assess concentration levels and classify hydration.
Important note on accuracy: Certain factors can affect test results, including B vitamins (bright yellow urine), certain medications (especially thyroid medication), menstrual blood, and recent large water intake. Hydration builds over 12–24 hours — chugging water right before a test won't produce a green result.
InFlow is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Information from InFlow should not replace diagnostic testing or consultation with a medical provider.
Coming Soon: InLoo
Intake Health is developing InLoo, a toilet-mounted version of InFlow designed for environments without urinals — including women's locker rooms, co-ed facilities, and commercial restrooms. InLoo clips to the toilet rim, articulates to collect urine for testing, and then folds back under the rim for cleaning by toilet water.
