InFlow Setup & Installation Guide
What's in the Box
- InFlow Cartridge (the sensor unit)
- InFlow Cup (the mounting base with suction cups)
- Wireless charging base + adapter plug
- Actiongraphic (over-urinal sign)
- Wall-safe mounts for Actiongraphic
- Custodial care card
Installation — 3 Steps
Step 1: Mount InFlow
InFlow comes ready to go right out of the box.
- Run the suction cups under hot water for about 30 seconds. This makes them malleable and ensures strong adhesion to the urinal surface.
- Press InFlow firmly against the back of the urinal, approximately 6 inches above the drain.
- Make sure InFlow is mounted vertically — the cup needs to be able to fill with urine and contact the sensor pin for the test to run.
Tip: A firm, level press for several seconds after applying gives the suction cups the best grip. If InFlow falls or doesn't adhere well, re-run the suction cups under hot water and try again.
Step 2: Attach the Actiongraphic
The Actiongraphic is the sign that goes on the wall above the urinal. It shows users what each color result means and what action to take.
- Mount the Actiongraphic directly above the urinal at eye level using the included wall-safe mounts.
- You can customize the back of the Actiongraphic with your organization's specific hydration protocols — for example: "Green = You're good," "Yellow = Grab a water bottle," "Red = See the trainer."
Step 3: Just Go
That's it — InFlow is ready to use.
Direct urine into the cup. Keep the cup full until the hydration result appears (a few seconds). Read the light:
- ● Green = Hydrated
- ● Yellow = Replenish
- ● Red = Rehydrate
InFlow is ready for another test as soon as the cup drains.
How Many Units Do I Need?
Install one InFlow per urinal for best results and team-wide accountability. This ensures every bathroom visit is a hydration check, not just one unit shared across a locker room.
Common configurations:
- Small facility / team: 4 units
- Standard locker room: 8–16 units
- Large facility / industrial: 16+ units (master carton pricing available)
If you need coverage during charging cycles (especially in high-use, 24-hour environments), consider keeping extra units in reserve so you can swap fresh units in while others charge.
Setting Up Your Custodial Staff
Provide the included custodial care card to the staff member responsible for cleaning the restroom. Key reminders for custodial staff:
- Do NOT use HCL-based cleaners on InFlow. This includes many commercial toilet bowl cleaners. Check the label — if it contains hydrochloric acid, do not use it on or near InFlow.
- Rinse InFlow weekly with water.
- InFlow can be sprayed with non-HCL-based cleaners if rinsed immediately afterward.
- Do NOT use stiff bristle brushes on InFlow.
Using InFlow with Female Athletes
InFlow is designed for urinals, but several athletic trainers have successfully used it with female teams by placing it in a sink and having athletes provide a urine sample in a cup. The device works the same way — fill the cup until the result appears.
This requires the InFlow to be moved to and from the testing location and cleaned between uses, but it provides the same accurate hydration results.
A dedicated toilet-mounted version (InLoo) is in development for a more permanent female-compatible solution.
Installing in Industrial / Workplace Settings
InFlow works the same way in industrial environments. A few additional considerations:
- In 24-hour shift environments, units will need charging more frequently. Consider buying spare units so they can rotate between active use and charging.
- InFlow is not waterproof — avoid submerging it or exposing it to direct water spray.
- High-humidity environments (steam rooms, wet locker rooms, outdoor platforms) will accelerate internal humidity buildup. Perform humidity maintenance every 3 months rather than 6. See the maintenance guide for details.
